Political Sagacity of People's Government

You may agree or disagree but it is a fact the way present Government is being criticized is an exaggerated one and undue. Under Zardari leadership, the present Government has been displaying political maturity, prudence and tolerance of unmatched kind. Be it matter of handling of the economic problems, menace of terrorism, extremism, or foreign affairs, Government is seen handling the affairs sensibly and sagaciously.

And it is also a fact that whenever since 80’s up to now PPP came into power there has been plethora of problems facing the leadership.

Despite all the present besetting problems, the government has kept all the political parties united and harmonious for sake of welfare of the masses, peace, stable and sound economy and true democracy to grow in letter and spirit.

In Pakistani politics today we see an unparallel example of flourishing of democratic culture and democratic attitude shown by the present Government to the opposition and other parties never found in the last decade or even more. Unlike the past unhappy history of political victimization where the governments by one or another method made their opposition parties victim to their oppressive acts.

Today under Zardari and Gilani leadership we find no acts of political victimization. There seems to be an end to the political victimization.

The tolerance exercised by the government against the opposition party is a rare example in near history. We got to hear now and then proactive statements given by the opposition leader Chaudhary Nisar along with Shahbaz Shareef, Rana Sana Ullah and other PML-N leaders against the leadership of the present government. Many a times fiery and irritating speeches were made against the government and even against the president yet the calm, the patient attitude was displayed by the government.

One is unable to understand the duality of the mind of the same the opposition party which once candidly and heartily appreciated the positive steps of governments i.e. NFC award distribution,18^th amendment taken for flourishing of democratic culture and democracy in the country. How does the same opposition party show the hostile attitude then?

After the Muslim league Q joined as a coalition party to present government before the budget for the finance year 2011-2012, if Pakistan peoples party could desire it could make its own government in the Punjab province with PML-Q and could show an exit door to PML-N but it did not do so and instead showed great level of political acumen by keeping Shabaz Sharif government with itself. Moreover, The Prime Minster time and again assured the PML-N leaders that the government had no such intention to oust the Shabaz sharif government in the Province. Eventually, we see PML-N continues to rule in the province of Punjab.

The president’s efforts need to be admired for asking MQM time and again to be a coalition party to the government.The federal minsters like Rehman Malik,Khursheed Shah,Babar Awans’  frequent visits to Nine zero in Karachi on the advice of the President to hold talks and ask the MQM leaders to rejoin the Government prove testimony to the fact that the government is much concerned about the peace and security situation of Karachi city and want the quick and  mutual solution of it.
       
The people of Balochistan province were sick of the Previous Musharaf Government and the atrocities meted out to them by the then government. As soon as Pakistan Peoples Party came into power , in order to uplift the socio-economic status of the people of the province, it started   chalking out socio-economic  strategies and programmes for them.Agha za Huqooaqe Balochistan was one such comprehensive programme for the people of Balochistan.

It is due to the admirable steps of present government for economic boost and its seriousness to enhance bilateral trade and relations with neighboring countries,I,e China,Iran,and  the West.And the launching of economic programmes that today the foreign reserves of the country have reached to $18 Billion. Never before in the previous governments such figures were successfully achieved.

Not only that, in the economic sphere, the Government has achieved millstone success never achieved before. First time exports of the country have reached to the figures of 20 billions. Previously the figure was 10 billion. The government has also succeeded in winning the attention and faith of overseas Pakistanis across the world. The overseas Pakistanis are putting staunch faith in the people's government and the concrete steps for stability of economy, progress and prosperity of the nation.

Today the foreign remittances have reached to one billion marks per month. It is expected for the current financial year foreign remittances may exceed to $30 billions.

In order to ease the economic difficulties of the government employees and the beaurocratic machinery to make their performance more effective and progressive,the government enhanced their salary packages to the level of their satisfication.The double increase in the salaries of employees of the ministry of health in Punjab province is an other praise worthy step of Pakistan peoples Party.

For the energy crisis, which the present government inherited from the previous government, the Prime minster Yousaf Raza Gilani’s this week’s visit to Iran and the import of 1000 MW electricity from Iran which is to be expedited in future is an other timely and admirable step taken in the right direction  by the government to cope with the energy crisis.
